SustainabilityHydration Stations
Hydration Stations have been put up in Ham-Wil's, the Library, Edward's Gym, the Science Center, and all of the residence halls.
The purpose of the Hydration Stations are to increase the use of refillable water bottles and to cut down the use of plastic throwaway bottles. The Hydration stations were funded as an initiative by WCSA. |
Low Flow Shower Heads
Savings:
-Current showerheads – 1.5 gallons per minute (gpm); Old showerheads – 2.5 gpm
-Estimated savings of 5 million gallons of water per year
-Estimated financial savings of $50,000-60,000 per year (based on current water/sewer rates); again this is all estimates on number of showers, length of showers, etc
- Meek Aquatic Center holds 365,000 gallons, we could fill the pool 13.7 times with the water saved.
Reusable To-Go Containers at HamWill
The Spring 2015 administration of WCSA approved a letter of support for the Reusable To-Go Containers now available in Hamilton Williams Campus Center.
How the containers work:
- At check out you are charged $5 for the container.
- If you return the container to either Merrick or Hamwil, the $5 will be credited back to your account.
- The containers will be cleaned upon return and reused.
- There is no cost to you if the container is returned!
